Title: 112 Lanes
Artist: Cities By Diana (with some clips used from @molesrcool from TikTok)
Statement: 112 Lanes is a part of the Lane Man series which was first popularized on TikTok and adapted for wide screen on YouTube. Using a mix of AI-generated text-to-speech voices and one segment of the creator's voice (the High-Speed Blimps segment), the video satirizes American city planning, in particular, auto-oriented infrastructure and suburban sprawl through the perspective of the protagonist, the anti-hero / pseudo-villain "Lane Man" and various side characters. It is a collection of standalone TikToks organized to create a narrative critiquing the ridiculousness of life in the United States and involves visiting many locations both real world and fictional through the use of the Cities Skylines PC games as a medium for digital art (Both the first and second game are represented here) as well as real world and stock footage to create an unhinged assault on the senses that you will surely never forget.

Title: the air we breathe

Artist: Christina Battle

Statement: the air we breathe is an expanded, experimental documentary that thinks through the complexities of air pollution by weaving together themes of environmental catastrophe, environmental racism, cultural and political shifts, and conspiracy.

Combining research into air pollution along with personal storytelling and speculative imaginings, this project deeply considers the complicated ways in which our air impacts us: from the way that smells travel through it and the memories they evoke; to the physical impacts of pollutants through shared inhalation; to the ways in which the air serves as a metaphor of connection in a cultural sense. Exploring the systemically racist decisions that result in unequally distributed impacts of air pollutants across geographies, this work considers the act of breathing as one of both political and social potential.
